You have it just about right. US dollars would be better in that amount but with the way the Aus dollar has been bouncing around it could be worth the same when you travel.
Roughly, to be comfortable I would recommend about $ 100 a day. You can do it for a lot less if you drop your western habits in a hurry.
Never spend more than $ 10 for a hotel.
Rarely eat at western restaurants. Street food is great and cheap and good for you.
Travel by bus and motorbike and check for cheap prices or packages when you want to travel distances.
In short… just get your head out of the western mind set. Asia is super cheap if you live like the natives do. Shop the local markets for fresh fruit and veggies. Find the local bakery for really good cheap bread. Drink at street side Bia hoi’s instead of in bars and night clubs.

Lots of this you will figure out as you go. Have a great time and if you get to Vietnam look me up. I live in Hoi an.
