Travel South America | Earth As You’ve Never Seen It… in 1080p
Some of the most striking Earth images ever made… from Landsat. Since the space age began over five decades ago, we have endeavored to travel beyond Earth to discover its origins, and test our own mettle in hostile alien realms. To see what other planets are made of, and to see to the far corners of the cosmos. Satellites in space have given us ring-side seats in the explosive death of stars, in the formation of stars and planets, in the collision of giant galaxies. And yet some of the most striking views have come when we turned around and looked back at Earth. To see how breathtaking our planet can be, simply select a location. Okay, Australia. To the west, Shoemaker crater is the oldest known impact site. It was formed about 1.7 billion years ago… and is today dotted with colorful salt encrusted lakes. An early explorer followed a series of streams to a large lake in Western Australia. It too was laced with salt, so he named it Lake Disappointment. Now,two views of Russia. Winter in Kamchatka. A volcanic terrain is hidden under snow-covered peaks, while glaciers feed ice into the deep blue Pacific. Here’s a cubist collage in Kazakhstan. Windbreaks of densely planted trees border farmlands in winter. Now over to China. A remarkable alluvial fan blossoms across a desolate landscape on the border of the Taklamakan Desert. Nestled at the foot of China’s Bogda mountains, is a strange mix of salt lakes and sand dunes, all set below sea level. Snowy ridges and peaks …
Question by Stacie: Is travel to Columbia, South America safe for Americans?
One of the guys I work with is being sent to South America (specifically Columbia) next month by our employer.
We’ve heard it’s a dangerous and unstable place to go, is that true?

Yes, it is safe. Just make sure you tell him to use common sense. If everyone worried about safety too much while traveling, no one would go anywhere. It is dangerous all over the world, if you don’t use common sense.
What do you think? Answer below!

@lydiaappelmans1953 hey and women not just men
very professional narrator! great and very interesting!
@rramosbaez
What’s a fake color?
@lydiaappelmans1953 man
these aren’t real colors, im guessing.
@teebeeman I think I do………….twenty minutes waiting for this to load.Pain in the nuts.
Id prefer the real colors, not these fake ones.
@lydiaappelmans1953 why dont you start with your final solution at yourself. Smith and Wesson is your friend.
I can see the Earth in a better resolution than 1080p (steps outside)
Beautiful images. But spoiled by completely inappropriate music and commentary that seems to treat the listeners as if they were stupid, with the narrator frequently mispronouncing country and other names. Shame.
@lydiaappelmans1953 “Magnificent creation and men is destroying it !!!!” It wasn’t created.
That’s why it’s so impressive!
Shit just doesnt look real
, but I find it rather a good thing. Gives me more hope for this planet than what we’re doing to it.
Poor music. Too many animations. All photos Photoshopped with color changes and . . . All of South America and Europe, but no clouds anywhere?
Retitle: Earth as you could never see it.
Whats with the dodgy music?
@early60srcool I’m pretty sure the Mississippi river basin is in the U S of A …Alaska too!
@Mat397 plenty of people care about Canada …including you since you obviously typed “Canada” …your comment is the evidence …it is also the exact measure of your thinking
@nadoeloiskat Finland is special! …it is amazingly beautiful …I drove around your neck of the woods and was so impressed by everything I saw …thank-you to the Finns for taking care of your natural resources
respect
@Bobajobimus …Imagine indeed! …way to apply John Lennon’s words from his legendary classic …his way of inviting to people to rethink
that aside …the area that is known as Canada is one of the largest landscapes on the planet yet it was omitted completely seems a bit odd
@JaZuN94 surely you can think of something at least relevant to this video perhaps you’d consider removing this bit of evidence as to your intelligence
…just a thought
@notingXworks yes what’s with that?
@DanielPhysiker interesting mathematical logistics …works for me ;-]) …although when we were asked to pick a place I visualized zooming in on Canada …the narrator must have missunderstood ;-]) …oh well
@MPeti02 cpu is made of silicon ;p
@TheIntolerantAtheist The funny thing is that my computer can download it so fast I don’t even have to pause it, but the CPU is such an ancient piece of metal that it just can’t draw the frames quickly enough. So I stayed at 720p.
the music is magnificent!
“Lake Disappointment” …wow…we humans are incredibly arrogant.
