Question by Amelia: 3 months travel in South America – How much money needed?
I will be travelling through South America next year for 2 – 3 months (more likely to be three months) and would like to find out an estimated amount of how much money to take.
Does anyone know how much on an average day one would spend in South America? I will be travelling backpacker style.
Any help would be great!

Thank you guys
I love ecuador!!!!!
oh q paraiso mas bello..
soy mexicana y Amo a mis hermanos del ecuador..!
@manumc Yep. Ecuador needs a “Pinochet regime” or something. Democracy does not work when the people are too stupid
@WarmongerWW3 Goog luck with that and get in line, he has plenty of enemies.
@manumc “i hope you either get one that will inflate your economy ”
Iran+North Korea…but will not be enough
@manumc we must kill the president Rafael Correa as we killed Jaime Roldos Aguilera.
just for fun
@WarmongerWW3 Thats not what i asked you. Anyway, at least i got a good chuckle out of this exchange. Since you are looking for a war, i hope you either get one that will inflate your economy or figure out another way to do so without unnecesary killing. Im hoping for the latter but, whatever, i dont think youll be happy with that.
@manumc BP paid for damages because …well, is the USA. Chevron will not pay because…well, is Ecuador…
@manumc Iran will be more interesting. Ecuadorians are too boring. I want at least a civil war after the Coup…but nooooo.
@WarmongerWW3 Perhaps you want it to be a bigger fight, but sorry to dissapoint you, this isnt Ecuador vs Chevron, this is some people, communities that were affected against them, the government has no say or interest in the ruling except for maybe supplying some ammount of legal support, but at the end of the day is still a private plaintiff. So, once again, you dont really understand what this trial is about. And about the kind words about Ecuador, i believe you mean it “disguts” you.
@WarmongerWW3 Local people i.e.: the country, the governement. This is barely a pressing issue or the primary concern for either, people care, but mostly the affected people. Regardless of how you understand democracy, politics, economics or a basic rulings, seriously, chevron LOST the las trial, your country even told them that this issue was to be resolved here not there, and THEY LOST, so as of this point the only thing chevron owns is debt. Wonder what you think of the bp dissaster then.
@manumc Of course, the foreign oil companies owns your weak OPEC country. If your government doesn’t cooperate with them… so the government is replaced by a puppet.
“local people”? Oh, please …
@WarmongerWW3 And you think those two scenarios will be related? Because yes, i highly doubt chevron will pay, and i would never disregard the idea of Ecuador going trough a coup, but to think, like you seem to do, that a court ruling an oil company to pay 8 billion dollars to a group of affected people, will somehow end up in the country being owned by Chevron, so much that YOU will put a puppet as government, like i said, it baffles me. This issue is hardly the main concern of local people.
@manumc As I said before, Chevron will not pay… Want to bet? And your country will have a coup d’etat in the coming years…Want to bet?
@WarmongerWW3 You seem very cool with the idea of environment pollution, and death, thats interesting, wonder if you feel the same way about the BP disaster that happened last year. And you also have very interesting ideas about democracy, i guess thats a given, you probably believe companies own countries, and the last ruling ordered Chevron to pay 8 billion to the affected people, not the whole country, how do you go from that to thinking Chevron owns the country baffles me.
@manumc Oh, I know. They polluted the environment, some people died, etc. etc. Whatever. You will never see that money. It is more likely that we’ll remove your government and put a puppet in the place.
@WarmongerWW3 You dont really get what that trial is about do you?
Chevron Corporation vs Ecuador: Chevron won.
Chevron owns Ecuador. FACT! >:)
Ecuador is the first country in the world to recognize legally enforceable Rights of Nature, or ecosystem rights. [ Ecuador’s Constitutional Rights of Nature].
Such a hippie! but I think it was a good idea, we’ll be forced to change the way we deal with the environment, a simple matter of survival…and time.
@suarezjaguar ya i kinda figured after this video ha
@pkmuffun The overwhelming majority of Ecuadorians are Spanish speakers.
@suarezjaguar yay an english speaker =D ha never before so happy to see english =p
